# Data sources adding using file based

Is there any way we can add data source using file based in grafana ,not from grafana UI.

Hi @shruti,

Yes, it is possible. You can either use the [HTTP API for Datasources](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/developers/http_api/data_source/#create-a-data-source) or use the [data source provisioning](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/developers/http_api/data_source/#create-a-data-source)
