Dear Forum,
we have Grafana 10.0.3, and we want to use the Alerting. However, the “Alerting” menu is not working as expected. In the submenu “Notification Policies” there is no button to create a new one, so I can’t do anything.
What are we doing wrong?
Thanks,
Ernst Hammann

Notification policies are a hierarchical structure. You want to create a New nested policy
for the default one (the New nested policy
button to the right)
Thanks for providing the details @webfe89
There has been a change in the UI, in Grafana v.10. The old + New Policy button is gone, but you will get the same result if you click on + New nested policy on the default notification policy.
The reason for this change in the UI is that Grafana wanted to make more clear that all policies are actually children policies of the root (default) policy. in v.9.x.x , when you clicked on + New Policy, you were actually creating children policies under the default one. This is more explicit now in v.10.x.x.
After hearing your feedback, the Alerting engineering team might explore adding more in-app documentation to explain how it works and how you should configure policies. I will post in this thread if I have any news regarding this.

Hello antonio and konradlalik,
thank you for your replies. In the meantime, after a lot of trial and error I figured out how it works. It seems that the documentation has been updated, too. But I would suggest that every document in the documentation shoud have a headline stating “This document refers to Grafana versions xxxx and yyy” or something like this.
Thank you very much,
Ernst Hammann
