You’re invited to become a Founding Partner of the Grafana Marketplace!
What is the Grafana Marketplace?
It’s a commercial route for Grafana plugins. You build, sell, and support the plugin; Grafana Labs handles billing, payments, and the commercial relationship with the customer. Every listing is reviewed and signed before it goes live.
You build your Marketplace plugin and provide a EULA and pricing.
We publish the plugin to our Plugins Catalog labeled as a “Marketplace plugin,” and interested customers can trial and purchase it.
We operate on a revenue-share basis. Founding Partners get a promotional revenue-share rate.
We’ll send more detailed information to those who apply.
Application deadline: September 30.
I don’t think I can make the September 30 deadline. What now?
Reach out anyway. If you’re close, or you’ve got a plugin that needs a bit more time, email plugins-marketplace@grafana.com and we’ll see what we can do with your timeline.
thank you for tagging me! I hesitated to share my thoughts here, as the OP seems to address commercial product vendors with this offer.
However, I’m not sure how many users visit the plugin catalog expecting to see a “Contact us” button rather than an “Install” button.
What about providing a way to monetize the work that goes directly into OSS plugins?
Am I right in understanding that the proposed path for OSS contributors is to develop commercial plugins alongside their open-source ones, generating enough revenue to make ongoing OSS maintenance sustainable?
If so, let’s be clear, this model does not seem to provide much direct incentive for maintaining OSS plugins. Nor does the last year’s proposition “You can include a sponsorship link if you want users to support your work.”
Not to say that I have anything generic to propose, but my plugins are build in a modular way: the OSS panel core has feature providers that can use both the default capabilities (for the OSS plugin shell) and extended capabilities (compiled into sandboxed wasm components, close-sourced).
Users are free to implement any of these capabilities themselves, having a plugin core open-sourced.
Hey there! Thanks for the feedback. By way of introduction, I manage the Grafana Marketplace launch efforts. For the initial stage of the marketplace, we’re unable to support the in-product upsells, but that’s definitely something are looking at in future iterations of the marketplace.
