is this a hosted service or on prem? Are you trying to do in place upgrades or in a test/qa environment?

is the QA environment identical to the others? also how many dashboards are we talking about and how many datasources for these?

what is the upgrade method you are using?

I would be tempted to try this

  1. back up prod
  2. restore to qa
  3. do the upgrade
  4. backup qa
  5. restore to canary

manual but might prevent the headaches? or is that too tedious
