Alert rules cannot load after large annotation entry

Using Grafana v8.5.4 with unified alerting enabled, attempted to create an alert rule with ‘Description’ annotation having a large number of characters (1 MB). After clicking Save, the console returned to the alert rules tab with error shown in image. Now cannot display any new alert rules created. The error is restricted to the same organization only.

Is there a simple way to resolve issue in the DB via mysql?

Can a character limit be enforced in the console/API when creating/updating annotations for an alert to avoid this issue?

Deleting the organization and recreating from scratch fixes the issue without having to log into the DB. However, it would be good to know what the character limit is for annotations to avoid problem for users.
